Understanding Your Value—and Finding the Environment Where You Can Truly Thrive
In my conversation with The Healthy Enterprise Podcast , we dug into a question so many professionals wrestle with: Where can I have the greatest impact—not just survive, but genuinely thrive? It’s one thing to understand your skills and strengths. It’s another to recognize the environments where those strengths translate into meaningful, sustainable impact. For many leaders and healthcare professionals, that clarity becomes the turning point. This clip captures a moment from

Investing in My Growth to Support Yours
I’m pleased to share that I’ve earned my Business Coaching Certificate through the Center for Executive Coaching . This certification is important to me as I engage business owners to grow their business and their teams and consider how to be successful while becoming more independent. With coaching tools and frameworks designed specifically for coaching in this space, are you a business owner ready for coaching? Perhaps coaching has helped you navigate the challenges of owni

Stretching
Rubber bands are a good metaphor for the resilience and challenges of life. We are often called to stretch to hold things together which can result in growth and that is positive. When the load is right, we can hold it together then bounce back from stretching to get ready for the next challenge. Flexibility is key so we adapt into the shape needed to keep things together. Sometimes we are asked (or required) to stretch ourselves beyond our limits, which we can do for a bit,

What If?
Are you asking yourself, “what’s next”? Perhaps you’re looking into the future asking, “what if”? What if you asked for that raise? What if you applied for that graduate program you’ve been considering? What if you put your name forward for that interesting role? What if you took up the space you’ve earned? How would it feel to walk confidently into a room and state what you want instead of waiting for the “right time”? My suspicion is that you’ve watched opportunities pass y

How to Master Compliance in an Evolving Regulatory, Technology and Patient Environment
Medical and commercial partnerships continue to be a topic consideration for Medical Affairs teams, especially prior to drug approval. At a workshop at the March MAPS meeting in Denver, this will be the topic covered during a workshop hosted by the Medical Governance & Compliance Domain. I suspect we agree that these partnerships are important and beneficial as each team brings something important to the conversation, but where is a safe space to work together? What examp

Hot Buttons
We all have something that triggers us to become frustrated. It’s normal, we’re human. What are your hot buttons? I facilitate an exercise in one of my programs asking this question and, more often than not, the discussion centers around being triggered when their ideas are dismissed, especially when they aren’t even considered. Can you relate? Identifying your trigger is the first step to managing it. When your button’s been pushed your body will react with an increased hear

Resetting
Watching the waves creep up the beach on a beautiful evening in Essaouira, I observed the ocean reset the sand. It strikes me that the ocean resets the beach with every wave. No matter the depth of the footprints, even the gentlest wave will impact the sand, working to return the beach to its naturally smooth surface. Sometimes it takes a wave or two, but it will be reshaped. What small step can you take to reset? Maybe this is day 1 of initiating a habit… Perhaps today i

Navigating Career Crossroads With Purpose
Lately, I’ve been having so many conversations with people who feel like they’re standing at a professional crossroads. And honestly, I’ve been there too. There comes a moment when you start asking yourself bigger questions: Am I still making the impact I want to make? Do I need to shift roles or step into leadership to influence things more broadly? Or is it time to take everything I’ve learned and build something on my own? What I’ve always believed is that most of us show

The Power of Gratitude
At the start of 2025, I chose to focus on building new habits rather than setting a traditional New Year’s resolution. The practice that shaped my year the most was writing down one thing I was grateful for each day on a bright, colorful square of paper. Now, as I look at the container nearly overflowing with these notes, I’m struck by how such a simple daily ritual has grown into a vivid, joyful reminder of the many blessings in my life. - Time with friends and family - A r

A Look Back at 2025
As I look back on this year, I’m filled with gratitude for the people and organizations who trusted me to walk alongside them in moments of change, growth, and discovery. Each conversation reminded me why I started this work—to help leaders find clarity in their stories and courage in their decisions. The journey has been humbling and energizing, from reframing messages that inspire teams to guiding leaders through challenges with compassion. I’m deeply thankful for the partn

Make the Turn
I’ve been heartened by the many posts from soon-to-be graduates celebrating the postdoctoral fellowships they’ve just secured in pharmaceutical industry. Earning these opportunities is no small feat—it requires resilience, dedication, and vision. Congratulations to each of you for reaching this milestone. May this next chapter of your journey be filled with growth and discovery. For those who did not secure a fellowship this round, remember this: your path is not defined by a

Delivering Year End Performance
Dedicating time to deliver performance reviews is a critical part of the end of year process. It is important to have only one agenda item for this one-on-one discussion… the individual and their performance. I tend to do most of the listening, allowing time for them to summarize the year and revel in their accomplishments. I start the discussion by asking the person to describe their biggest accomplishment. I often have a good idea about what they will say, but I can also be

Reflecting on My Podcast Experience
Being invited to join The Healthy Enterprise Podcast was both exciting and humbling. In the episode, I spoke with Heath about my career path—from my early days in the pharmaceutical industry to my current work as an executive coach and consultant. What struck me most was how naturally the conversation flowed into themes that are deeply personal to me: the importance of listening, the courage to face imposter syndrome, and the transformative impact of a growth mindset . A Manager’s Perspective
Writing thoughtful end of year evaluations is important. As a team manager, I had the opportunity to write many reviews and dedicated accouple hours to each one. Why? It is an important way to memorialize the year, recognizing the accomplishments of each team member. It’s how I ensured they knew I knew what they accomplished and how they had impact on our team and the company more broadly. Reminiscing about the year, the FULL year, provides an opportunity to reflect on how th

Impact in 2025
It’s end of year evaluations time. As you reflect on your accomplishments, what are you most proud of? What did you do to move your goals and the goals of your company forward? My guess is the list is long and meaningful. Don’t mistake this opportunity as a task that must be done, rather consider it a way to tell leadership the story of your year. Invest time in memorializing your accomplishments. This is particularly important when you work remotely as your impact is not as

Happy Thanksgiving from Petrichor
This Thanksgiving, I’m pausing to reflect on the incredible people I’ve had the privilege to walk alongside—clients, colleagues, mentors, and friends who continue to inspire me with their courage, curiosity, and commitment to meaningful work. Whether we’ve partnered on building Medical Affairs teams, navigated career transitions, or explored new ways to lead with clarity and compassion through coaching or mentoring, thank you. Your trust fuels my purpose. I named my business

Helped, Heard, or Hugged?
The book Supercommunicators: How Body Language, Situations, and Tone of Voice Create Meaning by Charles Duhigg is a great read with loads of practical applications for daily interactions. It brings up many important concepts about communication including how to adjust your responses according to the needs of the individual at that moment. It’s like “reading the room” but on the individual level and for the specific conversation at hand. Sometimes we may feel compelled to jump

Pre-Approval Collaboration: Navigating Compliance with Confidence
As I mentioned last week, I am leading the Scientific Exchange competency team under the Medical Governance & Compliance Domain as a volunteer with Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS) . The topic of compliance when collaborating with commercial in the pre-approval setting is one of interest based on feedback received. We know it’s important. We want to do it right. We recognize each company does it a little differently. In advance of product approval, collaboration b

Slowing Down to Support Learning
I had the opportunity to watch an artisan creating a silk rug during my recent trip to Istanbul. The pattern was intricate, and she moved skillfully. With years of practice, her fingers moved quickly doing a ballet to music with which I was unfamiliar. How does this reflect your conversations with KOLs? Are you able to skillfully navigate the conversation the way the woman navigated the complex pattern of the rug? Are you able to swiftly switch gears when a new topic is po

Building a Mosaic
I had the opportunity to watch an artist put together a mosaic for a pendant. The diameter was only about an inch, so you can imagine that each piece of stone contributing to the mosaic was very small. Each stone fits together to make a unique design and, ultimately, a spectacular piece of jewelry. As I watched him work, it made me think about the importance of each piece and the role it was playing in the design, similar to the impact of each individual on a team. Everyone b
